These Terms & Conditions apply when you use this website or place an order with Border Candles. Please read them before ordering. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.
1. About Us
This website is operated by Border Candles, a small handmade home fragrance business based in the Scottish Borders, United Kingdom.

2. Our Products
We sell handmade candles, wax melts, reed diffusers, room sprays, gift boxes and related home fragrance products. Because our products are handmade, small variations in colour, finish, label placement, scent tone or appearance may occur. These variations do not affect your statutory rights.
Product images and descriptions are provided to help you choose, but colours may appear differently depending on your screen settings.
3. Safety Information
All our products are fully CLP compliant & contain the appropriate CLP safety labels.
Please follow all safety instructions supplied with your product. Candles, wax melts, diffusers and room sprays must be used responsibly and kept away from children, pets, draughts, heat sources and flammable materials. Never leave a burning candle or heated wax burner unattended.
4. Orders
When you place an order, you are making an offer to buy the products in your basket. We will confirm receipt of your order by email. Your order is accepted when payment is confirmed and we begin processing it.
We may refuse or cancel an order if a product is unavailable, there is an obvious pricing or description error, payment is not authorised, or we reasonably suspect misuse of the website.
5. Prices and Payment
Prices are shown in pounds sterling (£). Delivery charges, where applicable, are shown during checkout before you pay.
Payment is processed securely through our payment provider. We do not store your full card details on this website.
6. Loyalty scheme & Discount Codes
Loyalty scheme:
Returning customers who spent £20 or more, per order, will receive a free reward gift with every 5th order placed. The more orders your make the more loyalty rewards/ thank you gifts you will receive.
Discount codes must be entered at checkout and cannot usually be applied after an order has been placed. Codes may be subject to expiry dates, minimum spends, product restrictions or usage limits. We may withdraw or amend promotions at any time.
7. Delivery
We aim to dispatch orders as quickly as possible. Delivery times shown on the website are estimates and may vary during busy periods, holidays, postal disruption or circumstances outside our control.
Please make sure your delivery details are correct before ordering. If an order is returned because the address was incorrect or delivery was not accepted, we may ask you to pay the reasonable cost of re-delivery.
8. Cancelling an Online Order
If you are a UK consumer buying online, you normally have the right to cancel your order within 14 days after the day you receive the goods, unless an exception applies. To cancel, contact us at hello@bordercandles.com with your order number.
After telling us you wish to cancel, you should return the goods to us within 14 days. You are responsible for the cost of returning unwanted goods unless they are faulty or we have made an error.
Returned items should be unused, unopened where sealed, and in a condition that allows them to be resold. We may reduce a refund if goods have been handled more than necessary to inspect them.
9. Products That Cannot Be Returned for Change of Mind
Your cancellation right may not apply to products that are made to your specification, personalised, bespoke, or sealed goods that are not suitable for return for health protection or hygiene reasons once unsealed. This may include some body, bath, room spray or fragrance products where seals or packaging have been opened.
This does not affect your rights if goods are faulty, damaged, misdescribed or not fit for purpose.
10. Refunds
Where a refund is due, we will refund the price paid for the returned goods and any standard delivery charge required by law. Additional delivery upgrades, such as express shipping, may not be refunded beyond the standard delivery amount.
Refunds are normally made back to the original payment method. We may wait until we have received the returned goods, or evidence that you have sent them back, before processing the refund.
11. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items
Please contact us as soon as possible if your order arrives damaged, faulty or incorrect. Include your order number and photographs where helpful. We will offer a suitable remedy, such as a replacement, repair, refund or partial refund, depending on the circumstances.
12. Accounts
If you create an account, you are responsible for keeping your login details secure and for making sure the information in your account is accurate. We may suspend or close accounts where there is misuse, fraud or a breach of these terms.
13. Reviews and Website Content
If you submit a review or other content to the website, you confirm that it is honest, lawful and your own. We may moderate or remove content that is offensive, misleading, spam, unlawful or unrelated to the product or service.
14. Intellectual Property
All website text, product photography, branding, logos, designs and content belong to Border Candles or are used with permission. You may not copy, reproduce or use them for commercial purposes without our written consent.
15. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights.
We are not responsible for losses that were not foreseeable, business losses, loss of profit, or losses caused by your failure to follow product safety instructions.
16. Events Outside Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including postal disruption, severe weather, supplier issues, power or internet outages, payment provider disruption, or changes in law.
17. Privacy
We handle personal information in line with our Privacy Policy.
18. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on this page when you place your order will apply to that order.
19. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom, you may also have rights to bring proceedings in your local courts.
